My name is Brandon Leo, I am 21 years old and from the city of Sheffield. I am currently in my third year at the University of Cumbria studying Film and Television Production.

I first found my passion for film at a very young age when I had first watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I was so mesmerized and enraptured by these fantastical films that I would spend hours watching behind the scenes videos on YouTube of how they were created and brought to life.

Since then I have always had a keen enjoyment of the world building and escapism of the film industry. At the age of 14 I had decided that this was the career path that I wanted to take in life so I chose to put most of my efforts into the particular subjects that I believed would help me on this journey. For example, at GCSE I chose the subject Expressive arts which covered a lot of areas of the creative industry and I solely pursed the media side of the course. When it came to A-levels I chose English, Media studies and Theatre studies. I chose English as I believed that it would give me and advancement and easier understanding of storytelling for if I ever wrote a script. I chose Media studies as it focused on breaking down films and talking about why certain aspect of the films used alongside creating short films of my own. Finally, I chose Theatre studies as I believed it would help give me an understanding into the methods and work an actor would do which would help me in the future to direct what I vision.

Throughout my Film career/education I have made several short films and documentaries such as at A-level I created a short documentary about food banks and in particular the Trussell Trust as a way to promote their great work and also give me experience in the practical side of filming. I have then done a few short films throughout my time at university such as a drama about a girl who has a complicated relationship with her father who has traditional values and doesn't agree with her wanting to become an engineer. These are just a couple of creative pieces I have made.

My next big project that I am working on is probably the most exciting thing I will have worked on so far in my film making career, it is certainly the project I am most looking forward to out of all my University projects. It will be a dystopian apocalyptic fantasy including zombies and dangerous betrayals. My collegues and I have drawn inspiration from the games The last of Us and the film duo A Quiet Place. This will hopefully be our biggest and most rewarding project so far in our careers.
